Me- Ritambhara Sahni have been teaching western dance in the city of Mumbai over 2 decades now. I started way back in the year 1992 with private lessons at my residence and established Ritambhara Sahni's Institute For the Performing Arts in the year 1996. I love dance and most free style dance forms. I was the 1st female to start a western dance school in Mumbai and i really cherish that. Somewhere down the line learning and teaching dance forms like Hip - Hop, old school and new style, Jazz, Contemporary, Bollywood , Tap and Flamenco, i fell in love with Belly Dance in an unique way and soon started to have belly dance workshops in Mumbai from the year 2002-2003. I then established Belly Dance Institute Mumbai in 2005 and was the 1st ever female to start my belly dance class in Mumbai. There were really no belly dance classes in Mumbai at that time and Mumbai welcomed belly dance with my belly dance class. Its a time to treasure. Today a lot of my own students have started their own belly dance classes in Mumbai following my footsteps and guidance and this all makes me so proud.

So today i am going to give information on 2 kinds of belly dance belts in terms of how they are and what can they be used for in belly dancing and otherwise. Inputs are from belly dance teachers and me. Also information on how we feel wearing these belly dancing belts.

Belly Dance Belts - Sequin Belts

Sequin belts are great for Egyptian and Cabaret Belly Dance style. These stretchy belts go well over pants and skirts, or wear it out for fun during Carnivale, Mardi Gras, or for Samba! These belly dance belts look great for a cabaret belly dance performance.

Belly Dancing Belts - Metal Belts
One thing about a metal belly dancing belt is that it does make very less noise and is not so much fun to belly dance with when learning or at class but it feels really good to wear it over a costume or one could even wear it to go clubbing. The gold or silver of the metal shines on any colour and can be used for all belly dance forms.
